Headstones have been used to mark the death and burial of people since ancient times. They have acted as a memorial and reminder to loved ones and the society in general of the life and importance of the deceased. Initially, they were made of timber, but, with the passage of time, materials with greater longevity were used. Today, the most common materials used are granite, marble, stone, concrete and sometimes bronze.
Laser etched mini headstones have be designed to be installed in cemetery and crematorium rose gardens and similar locations. They may also be installed in appropriate parks and in particular areas of private property. Many people prefer to keep the ashes of their loved one near rather than in a commercial memorial garden. A mini headstone is an ideal way to immortalize the memory of their loved one in either situation.
Our laser etched black granite mini headstones have been designed to compliment our range of funerary products and satisfy the needs of those customers who wish to continue to use traditional materials for their memorial. The laser etching process allows us to etch beautiful, complex and intricate images of motifs, logos and photos into the surface of the granite.
Mini headstone are 300mm high x 200mm wide x 32mm thick and are available in a number of different shapes.
Mini headstones can be supplied with or without an optional black granite base. The base has been designed specifically to support the mini headstone and display it at a convenient viewing angle. Furthermore, when a mini headstone is installed on a base more space is available on the headstone for inscriptions, images etc. A mini headstone granite base is 200mm x 200mm x 32mm with a suitably positioned slot to support the mini headstone.
The preferred method of installing a mini headstone is to mount it on a mini headstone base which may be placed on top of the ground or partially buried in the ground. The mini headstone may or may not be adhered to the base. This method provides stability for the headstone and maximum headstone display area and convenient viewing angle for images and inscriptions.
When a pet headstone is installed on a base, the base is positioned on the ground or partially buried in the ground and the pet headstone is fitted into the slot in the base. Should the pet headstone be installed in a windy area, it is recommended that the headstone be fixed onto a small concrete base buried below the headstone base; a small Besser block or equivalent is sufficient.
An alternative and less preferred installation method is simply to bury the bottom portion of the headstone in the ground. Unfortunately, depending on ground conditions, it may be necessary to bury half of the headstone to obtain satisfactory stability. If this method is chosen, it is necessary to ensure that, during the design process, inscriptions and images are only located on what will be the visible portion of the headstone after installation.
Various cemeteries and crematoria have different requirements and limitations on the size of headstones that they allow to be installed on their property. There is no logical reason why a Forever Shining laser etched black granite mini headstone cannot be installed in any cemetery or crematorium. Before an order is placed for one of our headstones these issues should be discussed between the customer and the cemetery or crematorium to ensure that the needs of all parties are satisfied.
Each customer has the opportunity to personalize the design and layout of their laser etched granite images on their headstone using the exclusive headstone design section of our web site.
Within this very simple design system, the customer selects their preferred headstone shape and then drafts their personalized inscription and uploads it onto their headstone design where it is sized and positioned appropriately by the customer.
The customer may then upload their own image or images onto the headstone design and or upload one or more images/art from the thousands of images in the Forever Shining web site library. Once again, the customer sizes and positions the images to suit their design.
In addition to the laser etched images mentioned above, the customer may add one or more lifetime images, stainless steel motifs, ceramic photos and raised glass backed motifs to the design, provided space is available on the headstone. The customer nominates the colour of the raised glass backed motifs.
When the customer is happy with the design of their headstone they may purchase that headstone after saving their design by clicking the “save” icon and following the prompts at the shopping cart.
The customer may determine the price of their design at any time during the design process by clicking the “Check Price” icon on the design screen.
When you have finished your design, you may save the design to our server. You will be asked whether you wish to upload some extra images and whether you wish to email your quotation to friends and relatives.
You may then purchase your design from our store. Full instructions are given about the ordering process.
If there is a trade mark or copyright associated with an image or logo that is required on a headstone, please ensure that written permission for us to reproduce the image or logo is provided by the owner of the trademark or copyright and that permission is supplied with the order. The order will not be processed without that permission.
